On day time, “Criminal” is a café called “1 Nice Coffee Slow Bar”. It has been opened for 2-3 years to what I understand. Criminal Bar opens at 6pm.
This last bar, Far Away Playground Korat is quite popular these days and we suggest to arrive before 9 pm. These two bars are just about 100 meters from each other in a small soi, not very far from Mum’s Bar.
Korat (Nakhon Ratchasima) has a small but sociable expat bar scene. Venues like Criminal Bar and others near the Monkey Bar area have served the foreign community for years, offering cold beer, sports on TV, and a mix of Thai and expat regulars. The scene is low-key compared to Bangkok or Phuket but has genuine community character.
What is nightlife like for foreigners in Korat?
Korat’s nightlife caters primarily to Thais, with live music bars, karaoke venues, and night markets dominating. For foreigners, a handful of expat-friendly bars near the Hua Ro intersection and Jomsurang Road area provide familiar comforts. The scene is unpretentious and very affordable compared to Bangkok’s tourist zones.
How safe is Korat at night?
Korat is a generally safe city. Standard precautions apply: use a registered metered taxi or Grab app rather than unlicensed tuk-tuks, keep valuables secure, and stay aware in late-night entertainment areas. Violent crime against foreigners is rare. The city has a regular police presence in the main commercial areas.
What is the cost of a beer in a Korat expat bar?
Beer prices in Korat expat bars typically run 70–120 THB for a large Chang, Leo, or Singha. Import beers and spirits cost more. This is comparable to Bangkok non-tourist bars and far cheaper than tourist zone pricing in Phuket or Koh Samui.
