Samui Aquarium is open 7 days a week from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm. We have mixed reviews for that place. First, the price is quite expensive: 750 baht per ticket. Children are cheaper. You are 4 people, that’s 3,000 baht already. Second, it’s quite old and not really nice. But the price include a sealion show, the aquarium, a bird show, a small zoo and a tiger show.
The Aquarium is old but has nice specimen of fish. It is dark inside, probably for you not to see that it is old,but it makes fish look nicer!
Some fish like these sharks are really in small ponds. The Aquarium in Rayong, for example, is much nicer and admission is about 30 baht! Or the Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo worths it for about 100 baht per person! You will spend hours, have access to a water park, etc. But not here. It’s limited to an aquarium, a small zoo with birds and squirrels, and a tiger show.
One thing is nice: The sealions show is great. It normally starts at 1:30. Funny.
Take a picture with a sealion at the end for 100 baht.
Later, you can visit parts with birds, but again, it’s quite old. Small cages, and not nice.
Birds and other animals (like squirrels, small monkeys) are inside these cages.
At 2:30pm, it’s the bird show. Nothing to be impressed, but you will see some nice birds. The tiger show was about 15 minutes MAXIMUM.
That was a lucky picture with bad light. A leopard did only one jump and he is right in the middle!
But if you are in Samui and don’t know what to do, if you are tired of beaches, restaurants, bars, and need another activity, or if you are in family, then, the aquarium and tiger show might be for you. In total, we stayed between about 2 hours 30 minutes to see everything. This place is located into a resort called Samui Orchid. They have a website here: http://www.samuiaquariumandtigerzoo.com/ {rss uri=http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/photoset.gne?set=72157626959849326&nsid=50651722@N03&lang=en-us limit=10}
The Koh Samui Aquarium and Tiger Zoo is an attraction on Koh Samui island combining a marine aquarium with tiger enclosures. It is located in the south of Koh Samui and offers visitors the chance to see tropical fish, coral reef species, and tigers up close.
Is Koh Samui good for families?
Koh Samui is one of Thailand’s most family-friendly islands. Beyond the aquarium, families can enjoy beach activities, elephant sanctuaries, Big Buddha temple, Go Kart circuit, Safari Park, and water sports. The island has excellent accommodation for all budgets and reliable infrastructure.
How do I get to Koh Samui?
Koh Samui has its own airport (USM) with direct flights from Bangkok (1 hour), Phuket, Chiang Mai, and international connections. You can also take a bus or train to Surat Thani on the mainland, then a ferry (1.5-2 hours). Bangkok Air operates many Samui flights; budget carriers serve Surat Thani.
When is the best time to visit Koh Samui?
Koh Samui’s best weather is February to August. The northeast monsoon brings rain and rough seas December to January, while October to November can be stormy. Unlike Phuket and Krabi which face the opposite coast, Samui is on the Gulf of Thailand and has an inverse weather pattern.
