Located at a walking distance from the so-called farang street or backpackers street (Soi Naresuan 1 and 2), this guesthouse enjoys the preference of eminent guides and reviewers such as Lonely Planet and Travel Fish. It is now made up of two wooden buildings rising next to each other inside a great green yard, with a large natural lotus flowers and fish pond in the back. Both buildings are quite far away from the street, yet not entirely isolated from traffic noise. The pond is crossed by a wooden pilework veranda, accommodating tables and seats for about 20 people, and two hammocks.
The first building opened around 2004. It was so successful that the second building followed in 2008. The guesthouse is now offering a total of 22 rooms for up to 45 guests. Guests are in majority foreign backpackers, but sometimes also Thai visitors to Ayutthaya.
Baan Lotus guesthouse is run by its Thai lady owner, retired science professor Khun Gosum, and her little sister Khun Tang. They both speak excellent English. Prof. Gosum in particular will do all she can to assist her guests in everything they need, in a view to help them make the most of their Ayutthaya experience while saving them as much as possible time and money.
