One of several budget guesthouses located on this street, also known as farang street or backpackers street, day and night meeting place for foreign tourists and residents in Ayutthaya.
This guesthouse was the first one to open in the backpackers street in 1986. Since then, it grew in size and quality in a view to suit all kind of visitors with as many options as possible. Today it remains one of the best choices for Ayutthaya budget travellers, in spite of relentless competition by other guesthouses that rose all around through the years. It offers a total of 30 rooms in 3 diffferent buildings and can accommodate up to 50 guests at a time. Guests are almost exclusively foreign backpackers.
Inexplicably, Ayutthaya Guesthouse is not mentioned on Lonely Planet Thailand, but it is on other popular travel guides and Websites such as The Rough Guide and Travel Fish.
Ayutthaya Guesthouse is run by its Thai owner Khun Chai Chana’. Khun Chai speaks very good English and holds an official TAT tourist guide license. He is a reliable and inexhaustible source of information for everything happening in town, on both sides of the river.
