Sébastien H. Brousseau

I'm Sébastien H. Brousseau, a Canadian who moved to Thailand in 2004 and never quite left. Twenty-two years later I spend my time on long road trips through places most foreigners miss, eating things I can't always name, and writing it all down in English and French.

This blog is where those journeys live: travel notes from Isaan to the islands, food finds from Phetchaburi to Roi-Et, and the occasional opinion from someone who has watched Thailand change across two decades from a front-row seat.

I'm also a lawyer. For legal work (wills, property, company set-up, divorce), visit ThaiLawOnline.com, my Thai law firm serving expats in English and French since 2004.

Luang Prabang: The Quiet Capital of Laos There is a version of Southeast Asia that existed before the guesthouses and the tuk-tuks and the pub streets, and it is remarkably well preserved in Luang Prabang. The city sits at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers, surrounded on all sides by forested mountains,…

    Rong Beer Pavilion 101

    BySebastien 11/07/201507/19/2026

This is probably the biggest and most famous bar in RoiEt. It’s located near Petcharat Garden hotel, in a small street with many other bars. Rong Beer is a place for listening to live bands playing Thai, Isaan and western songs. It used to be “open-air” with a roof few years ago. They renovated the…

This small bar opened at the end of 2009, beginning of 2010. It’s a charming place where you can have some drinks and cocktails and enjoy the young crowd of Roi Et. This place attracts foreigners and Thais, all age, but mostly people around 25-35. This bar is located in an old wooden house, near…

GOOGLE EARTH PLACEMARK The Empress is a REAL Chinese restaurant located in the Dusit Princess Hotel. They serve Dim Sun on lunch time and “a la carte” for dinner.
