This restaurant is really nice in Nakhon Ratchasima. All dishes are nicely served, and the place is beautiful, nicely located but it might be difficult to park a car. It is located just in front of V-One hotel.n

nnEach dish was quite small but superb, for 80 baht each. Of course the speciality of this place is the roasted chicken (Gai Yang) but the price is about 150 baht for a chicken and I believe you need to be several people to enjoy it.nnnnThere is an air conditioning room is you wish. Wooden chairs and tables, beautiful decor with Chiangmai handicraft.nnIf you like Isaan food, that’s a great restaurant. The lap pla muk was fantastic, but VERY spicy. That was VERY spicy even if I love spicy food.nnnnThey have all kinds of yam even with beef. It has the name of the leg “Ka” and “Laye” after. I can’t remember the name. Something like Yam Neua Ka Laye. The chicken is quite nice and it is the name of the restaurant. Gai Yang Nai Muang means “Roasted Chicken inside the city” so you better have good chicken!nnThey have a menu in Thai and English.nnnnMore pictures here on our flickr account: https://www.flickr.com/photos/50651722@N03/sets/72157627448579948/nn n

About Isaan Cuisine
n
The Isaan region of northeastern Thailand has its own distinct culinary tradition, influenced by Lao and Khmer cultures. Signature dishes include som tam (spicy papaya salad), larb (spiced minced meat salad), sticky rice (khao niao), and grilled chicken (gai yang). Food in Isaan tends to be spicier and more sour than central Thai food, using ingredients like padaek (fermented fish sauce) and fresh herbs.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Gai Yang Nai Muang Restaurant in Korat?
Gai Yang Nai Muang (ไก่ย่างในเมือง — ‘Grilled Chicken in the City’) is a popular restaurant in Nakhon Ratchasima known for traditional Isaan-style grilled chicken served with sticky rice, som tum, and larb. It’s a local institution that exemplifies the simple, honest quality of northeastern Thai food.
What is Isaan-style grilled chicken (gai yang)?
Gai yang (ไก่ย่าง) is marinated in lemongrass, garlic, fish sauce, and coriander root, then slow-grilled over charcoal. Unlike Bangkok-style chicken, Isaan gai yang is often flattened (butterflied) and grilled whole or halved. It’s eaten by hand with sticky rice and various dipping sauces including jaew (roasted chilli sauce).
Where can I find the best gai yang in Korat?
Korat has dozens of excellent gai yang vendors — from Gai Yang Nai Muang (sit-down restaurant) to street carts and morning markets. The best gai yang is usually found at local markets early morning or late afternoon when it comes fresh off the grill. Price ranges from 40 THB per piece at street vendors to 80–150 THB at sit-down restaurants.
Is Isaan food spicy for foreigners?
Isaan food is typically spicier than central Thai food. Som tum (papaya salad) and larb can be very hot if made to local taste. When ordering, you can request ‘pet nit noi’ (a little spicy) or ‘mai pet’ (not spicy) — the heat level will be adjusted. Gai yang itself is not spicy, making it a safe starting point for those new to Isaan cuisine.
