There is a gem hidden in Sisaket called “Cuckoo’s nest”. A small pub (closed on Monday) serving Tex-Mex, Italian, foreign and Thai food. It is owned by Brian (American) and his Thai wife. It is not far from the train station, on one of the main street in Sisaket (night market). And if you want need to have a burrito or great food, this is the place to be in Sisaket.nnnn nnWe strongly suggest to try the Chili Colorado Burrito but it is up to you. Frequently Asked Questions
What is Cuckoo’s Nest Restaurant in Sisaket?
Cuckoo’s Nest is a restaurant and pub in Sisaket, northeastern Thailand, known for its welcoming atmosphere, Western and Thai food, and expat-friendly vibe. It’s a popular gathering spot for travellers passing through Sisaket and for the small but active expat community in the region.
Is Sisaket worth visiting for travellers?
Sisaket is off the typical tourist trail, which is exactly its appeal. The province has Prasat Hin Wat Sa Kamphaeng Yai (a Khmer temple), the famous Million Bottles Temple (Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew), and access to the Mekong River region. It’s a rewarding stop on an Isaan road trip.
What food can I expect at expat restaurants in Isaan?
Expat-friendly restaurants in Isaan typically offer a mix of Western comfort food (burgers, steaks, pasta, breakfast fry-ups) alongside Thai standards. Local Isaan specialties — gai yang, som tum, larb — are usually also available, often at very low prices. Beer prices are generally lower than Bangkok or Pattaya.
How far is Sisaket from Korat (Nakhon Ratchasima)?
Sisaket is approximately 300 km east of Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat). By car on Highway 226, the journey takes about 3.5–4 hours. Trains also run between the two cities on the northeastern line. Sisaket is a logical stop on a deeper Isaan route heading toward Ubon Ratchathani.
