Trattoria de Primo Posto (Khao Yai)

This Italian restaurant is located inside Primo Posto. Primo Posto is a small place made of 3 or 4 buildings, Italian style, located in Khao Yai. It’s owned by the same owner as Palio. Palio is also a place Italian style, but much bigger with shops, restaurants, etc. There are only 4 km between each others so you can easily visit both.

You can’t say it isn’t beautiful! That’s the wineyard behind.

Primo Posto, the smallest, is basically a place selling gelato, a trattoria and a wineward backyard. It’s really beautiful but small. Entry is 55 baht. There is a large parking. On the opposite, Palio is free. Primo posto is open daily.

Inside the trattoria.

I was craving for some REAL Italian food so I didn’t miss the opportunity to try that place. But I was a little deceive. Even if the place is awsome, so beautiful, I would say the food is good but nothing exceptional. I was expecting more for that price cause it’s not cheap. Here’s the menu:

It started well: that place served free warm fresh bread with olive oil and wine vinegar on the table. You really feel like in Italy!

Welcome to Italy!

We first had an onion soup that was conventional. Then, these pasta (Tagliatelly beef goulash -280 baht). That was the best meal by far. The beef was very tasty and it was served on fresh pasta. We are not food critics but we like to eat well!

After, we had a dish of chicken. It was tender (boiled) but untasty. And of course, gelato is always good especially in a country like Thailand!

If you are in the area, you might want to try that place, at least to see the scenery. But a restaurant like Spago in Ubon Ratchatani is a much better Italian place, and it’s deep in Isaan!
