Erawan Waterfall is one of the biggest attractions in the Kanchanaburi area, Thailand. This famous waterfall can be seen in the visually stunning park that covers 500 square kilometers, called the Erawan National Park. This beautiful waterfall attracts many tourists all year round in Thailand. The fall has seven levels that drop down more than 1,500 meters. Covering each level is fascinating and you can easily walk on the ways around the falls. If you want to reach the top of the falls, then it can be very adventurous and challenging as well, but it will definitely be a worthy experience. The waterfall at Erawan national Park may not be widest, tallest or with most gallons per minute, but the clarity of water is definitely mesmerizing and the unique formations of limestone make the view even more fascinating. You will love the blue-green combination of the color that the water displays in the fall. There are deposits of limestone underground and the water passes through it. The water comes out with a huge amount of calcium carbonate with layers of limestone almost over everything. Another amazing highlight of the waterfalls is the rocks that don’t touch the base of the falls. These rocks have formed from the deposits of calcium carbonate and they grow out from the face of the cliff. You can also find many people swimming beneath them.

History

Erawan National Park, where the famous waterfall is based, was founded in June 1975. This is the twelfth National Park in Thailand.

Climate

The Erawan National Park has limestone hills that rise above sea level up to 996 meters and from these hills many vital streams flow. Rainfall average in the park is low because the park gets protection from the eastern monsoon due to the limestone hills. The park is open throughout the whole year. The period of February to April is the summer time when the temperature remains quite high. The period of November to January is the winter season and May to October is monsoon.
