Mein Licht – Mexican fusion in Korat

Mein Licht Mexican fusion restaurant Korat Thailand

Update, July 2026 : Mein Licht has moved! It now operates as Mein Licht Fusion & Bar at a new address — here is the new location on Google Maps. The old directions below no longer apply.

A Mexican restaurant with a German name in Korat: Mein Licht started out hidden in old army barracks, and that strangeness was half the charm. The kitchen has since moved to its new home as Mein Licht Fusion & Bar, but the concept is the same: cheap, generous Mexican-style food, done the Thai way.

The Food and the Prices

It is not rigorously authentic Mexican — expect the occasional ketchup or mayonnaise where a Mexican grandmother would riot — but at these prices nobody complains. From the current menu:

  • Tacos — corn tortillas from 90 ฿ (chicken), 110 ฿ (pork), 130 ฿ (beef); plain flour versions 100–140 ฿. Add an egg for 10 ฿, cheese or bacon for 20 ฿.
  • Set Tacos White — tacos with fried bites and nachos: 140 ฿ chicken, 160 ฿ pork, 180 ฿ beef.
  • Quesadillas — the « Ori » from 150 ฿, the Normal from 160 ฿, up to 250 ฿ for the double-beef version, served with dipping sauce on a wooden board.
  • Extras — fresh orange juice at 35 ฿ a bottle and homemade cookies at 20 ฿ from the blackboard by the counter.

A full meal still lands around 150–250 ฿ per person, which keeps Mein Licht among the best cheap eats in Korat.

The Atmosphere

The new spot is open-air and casual: a covered terrace with plants and cacti, a Mexican flag over the counter, a menu board out front, and a very relaxed orange cat who considers the floor his. You order at the counter, the coffee and shakes come from the red display fridge, and everything is comfortable in the way only Thai street-side restaurants manage.
