Rong Beer Pavilion 101

This is probably the biggest and most famous bar in RoiEt. It’s located near Petcharat Garden hotel, in a small street with many other bars. Rong Beer is a place for listening to live bands playing Thai, Isaan and western songs. It used to be “open-air” with a roof few years ago. They renovated the place and it’s now fully covered. If you are in Roiet and want some good music, Rong Beer Pavilion is THE place to go. There is one pool table (20 baht?) but the main attractions are really the shows. The food is good and prices are reasonable. The concept of this place is very similar to Ta Wang Dang, a famous brand of bars all across Thailand. Some of the musicians in that band have been playing there for many years (at least more than 5 from what I remember!). They will play Caraboaw and other Thai folk songs. But you might have other bands and singers, like these 2 guys, doing some hip hop or rock modern songs. And obviously, in the heart of Isaan, you will always find some Isaan girls singing and dancing traditional songs. And in Roiet, these are very popular. You can literally see the crowd standing up and dancing crazily when Isaan music starts. The bar closes late, around 2am.

Itivet – Veterinary clinic in Korat

They are located near Bule Saloon, or in front of Ra Bieng Gao (a restaurant) on Yommarat road.
Inside, they sell pet food and several accessories. They price is cheaper than Klang Plaza or the Mall. (But Makro is the best!).

The place is really clean. They have young staff and they will take care of your animal. You can leave your animal there, for a small fee, if you need the animal to recover after an operation or something else.

The owner is the one on the right, beside the German Shepperd.

We suggest you to go with the new one, as it’s much better, nice and quieter because not on the main street. The old wing is on the above picture, on the right. This is a budget hotel and rooms are from 200 to 600 baht. All tuk tuk drivers know this hotel. You just have to say ‘Tokyo Hotel’ or ‘Rong Rem Tokyo’.

Restaurant Kitchen 9×9

Kitchen 9×9 (in Thai, ครัว 9×9) is a fusion restaurant located in Nakhon Ratchasima. It is not easy to find, behind the Mall and you must take Mittrapab Soi 4 to go there. There is a parking and if you know i-condo, it is not very far. At the entrance, you will find a beautiful wooden house. The chef and owner is Thai but was trained in Switzerland. The food is really exceptional. unnamed The menu has western food and Thai good. It is both in Thai and English. There are beautiful gardens and this place is highly recommended. 8506887206_cb68fe8561 We highly recommend the fried shrimps with tamarin sauce, the pork leg german style is superb and everything is almost outstanding there. 8921994129_149c267901 To find this place, go at http://maps.google.com  and put these numbers in the search engine of google maps: 14.988395, 102.068101 For more fabulous pictures of this place, click here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/50651722@N03/sets/72157633872833425/ Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/pages/9×9-Kitchen-Korat/135077336627612 Closed on MONDAY.

Lanchang garden bar and restaurant, Loei

777 Moo 9, Maliwan Rd.
Amphur Muang, Loei, 42 000.
Tel: 042-833 733, 085-465 1234.
This is an really beautiful restaurant located in Loei, near the Mueng Loei Ram hospital, not far from the bus station. If you are in Loei for a short or long stay, don’t miss that place. On the main road, you will see that big sign announcing Lanchang restaurant. There is a large parking available. A Giang Phi Ta Khon mask at the entrance. The gardens are really beautiful, with nice terraces and wooden furniture. There is live music at night. We only had 3 dishes that night. It was my second time at that restaurant and from what I remember, the first time was better. But sincerely, it’s really good. The first one was called “Matcha Klom Kleeo” in Thai. Some kind of fish with vegetable on top. Second one, with the big mushrooms, is “Pad Pak See Sahai”. Chinese style. And into the coconut was “Hamok Thale”, too spicy to my taste but good. The price, with one beer + water + ice was about 400 baht. A page of the menu, only in Thai. Prices are fine if you think about this wonderful decor. You can also dine inside, with air conditioning. They have a selection of wine. A really great restaurant in Loei, Isaan or even anywhere in Thailand. Much more pictures of that fabulous restaurant in Loei here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/50651722@N03/sets/72157626905962516/

Korat Zoo Lagoon swimming park

The Korat Zoo Lagoon is a new attraction in Nakhon Ratchasima. It opened in 2009 and is part of the Korat Zoo. When you buy a ticket for the zoo, it automatically include your entrance at the Lagoon. Foreigners pay 100 baht and Thais 70 baht for adult. It’s the second water park in Korat after the one at the Mall. There is also a minigolf (Mini-putt) inside this water park but you must pay an additional fee for the mini-golf.
The entrance
There is only ONE big water slide and you can see it in the back of that picture. Three small water slides are in yellow, blue and red on the left. The main attraction is more the lagoon, a kind of river surrounding the park, with about 90 cm water, where people play and swim turning around.
This is the lagoon. There is a small current that makes you move all around. Visiting the zoo and spending few hours at the lagoon is an excellent activity for a family. This water park is mostly for children. There are small stands selling food, many long chairs to relax, you can even rent a swimming suit! Many showers, lockers, everything you need. It closes around 5pm. Other pictures and links:

Palio Khao Yai

Palio is an Italian style village located in Khao Yai. It’s about 10 km from the main gate to the park, or 25 km from Pak Chong. The parking isn’t very big and this village is located directly on the main road. You will find a lot of people taking pictures. It’s a touristic attraction, with some shops, but it isn’t so big. You will find few shops selling natural products, or post cards, or t-shirts. One of the vineyard sells his wine there. The main attraction is the village itself, with colored houses and nice gardens. It will take you less than one hour to see all that has to be seen. The owners are the same as primo posto. Primo posto is about 4km away, but even smaller. There are some restaurants but not a lot. Two or three places sell “gelato”, this Italian ice cream. Some shops are still empty and new ones should open soon. This is a small bar in a corner. It sells a variety of German and Belgium beer, for 200 to 300 baht. This is some of their brands. There is also a small place selling English pies!!! More of our pictures of Palio:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/50651722@N03/sets/72157624262320100/
