I started to make some new videos about Thai law. I believe I was the first lawyer in Thailand to make videos on youtube in 2008. The new videos are updated to make them nicer, and I also have much more experience about Thai law with 12 additional years of experience.
This one is about custody of a Thai child. We do a lot of family law and many are surprised that the father of a Thai child, if not married to the mother, doesn’t have any parental rights in Thailand.
Here, I am making a video about usufruct in Thailand. Usufruct rights are part of the Thai Commercial Civil Code. In Thailand, foreigners can’t own land. However, they can own condos but many prefer houses to condominium. A usufruct can grant the right to live in a property for the lifetime of the foreigner. It is often more convenient than a lease agreement, depending on the situation of each case.
Recently, we did many cases of inheritance. Foreigners or Thai clients dying in Thailand or abroad, and have assets in Thailand. With or without a last Will, we must appoint an administrator by going to Court. The process is about 3-4 months and simple, but it needs to be done.
